Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated…… just kidding. But it has been a long time since I’ve added anything to my website. The delay has mainly been due to work-related issues: growing disappointment with work, a change in jobs, a flood, then a fire, more fluctuations in my work situation, and finally a new stable work position. I was still doing photography but just wasn’t in the frame of mind to work on my website.
I plan on trying to become more active with the website. Today I’m posting one of my favorite wood duck images… to date. It was taken last fall on my backyard pond. I was photographing the pair of wood ducks in the lower right when I happened to pause, take my eye from the viewfinder and scan the scene for other subjects. I immediately noticed the grander scene unfolding before me. Sunlight was beginning to light up the far side of the pond, wood ducks were positioned pleasingly across the water, and the fog rolling across the pond added a nice mood to the scene.
I had a problem though. The lens I was using was a Sigma 300-800mm zoom. Even when zoomed back to 300mm, the lens could only capture half the scene. i quickly shot two images, one for the left half of the scene, the other for the right half.
The two resulting images were stitched together in Photoshop to create the resulting panoramic image.
